OH NO, NOT THE VET!!!

QUOTE OF THE DAY:  Electricity is really just organized lightning.  George Carlin

THIS IS:  CELEBRATION OF LIFE MONTH.

Mom and Dad took me to the doctor the other day.  I don't mind going there like a lot of my friends do.  First, I get a ride in the car.  I love the car.  And the people there are so nice.  A cute young girl gave me a few biscuits.  Her voice was soft and soothing.  Then she stuck a stick up my rear. I didn't like that at all.  I tried to push it out, but she held tight.  Whatever that was for, I'm normal.  Oh yeah, before going into the exam room I had to get on the scale.  I gained a couple of pounds, but I still look good.  My walks and runs help keep me trim.

I was at the doctor's because of a few episodes that worried mom and dad.  In the past eight or nine months I've stiffened and have been unable to move.  My body shakes, too.  The doctor says they were seizures,  They don't hurt me and the doctor said to let them run their course.  If they last longer than a few minutes or become more frequent or intense, then I may need medication.

The nice doctor examined me, then he brought out the clippers.  Oh no!!  My feet!!  It doesn't hurt so I don't know why it scares me so much.  I put up a fight, buy my nails got clipped anyway.  Apparently I do a good job wearing them down on my own.  But mom wanted them shorter, and I aim to please.  Isn't that part of a dog's job?

CHRISTMAS CARD DILEMMA

TODAY IS:  Nothing Day

SAYING OF THE DAY:  A house is not a home without a dog.

A lot of thought goes into choosing our Christmas cards.  My husband and I always choose animal related cards that we purchase from animal foundations.  We get nice cards and help the animals along the way.

Sending out holiday cards is a nice, thoughtful gesture.  I enjoying sending and receiving them.

I don't care for e-cards.  They seem rather impersonal and lazy.

The friends I have made over the years always include a personal note on the card.  But what about the holiday letters?  They are okay.  I am interested in hearing what our friends have been up to over the past year.  The bragginess bothers me a little.  I know, proud parents and all that, but tone it down a bit.

How do you determine when and who you remove from your list?  Do you delete relatives and friends you haven't heard from?

I started with people we haven't heard from since our move to Florida more than a dozen years ago.  The following year we didn't get a card from them either.  One person called us on it.  "We haven't heard from you in a while.  Is everything okay?"  They will get a card starting again in 2013.

i like that, and

i do the same.  A brief, habd-written note is so very personal and well-thought out.
