THIS IS:  Strike out stroke month

QUOTE OF THE DAY:  "He had a massive stroke.  He died with his tie on.  Do you think that could be our generation's equivalent of that old saying about dying with your boots on?"
Stephen King

I have regained my faith in human nature.  Since I have become disabled through my stroke, I've realized how good people can be.

Most people hold doors open and say "sorry" or "excuse me" if they bump into my wheelchair.

A woman saw me waiting in line for the ladies room.  She said "Here let me help you."  She boldly led me to the front of the line and we waited until the handicapped stall opened up.  She made sure I was okay and waited for me.  Then she escorted me back to Don.

When Don and I went on our cruise we took a bus to and from the port.  On the way back home, a man helped Don get me down the stairs and off the bus.  He was very helpful.

While on the cruise, Don and I were listening to live music.  He knows how much I love to dance.  Since the stroke my emotions have been running wild, and I get teary eyed when I hear some music.  A few tears were already falling.  Don got up, helped me out of my chair and led me to the dance floor.  He held me tight while we swayed to the music.  After, a woman came up to me and said "You did very well out there."  Now tears were streaming down my cheeks.

Don and I were on a boat tour through the Panama Canal.  With Don's help, I walked to the front of the boat  for a photo op.  On the way back to my seat, a woman stopped me and told me how brave I was.

I get comments a lot about how brave I am.  I am not brave.  I am just trying to live my new way of life as best I can.
