BRIDGE, THE GAME NOT THE STRUCTURE

QUOTE OF THE DAY:  "GOOD SEX IS LIKE GOOD BRIDGE.  If YOU DON'T HAVE A GOOD PARTNER, YOU'D BETTER HAVE A GOOD HAND."  Mae West

THIS IS:  The beginning of hurricane season.

Dad has a hobby.  He loves to play bridge.  It's kind of an outlet for him to get away from taking care of mom for a few hours.  He enjoys it a lot and he's accumulating master points of many colors, red, silver, black, gold.  I guess his goal is to become a master.  He needs something like thousands of points for that.  He's on his way.

Dad has regular weekly games scheduled on Mondays and Fridays.  Sometimes he'll play on Wednesday or Sunday.  He travels to Orlando and Tampa and Winter Garden for tournaments.

Mom urges him to play in the weekly games.  But something isn't right.  She was a little annoyed when he played one Monday.  It was a holiday.  Who schedules games on a holiday.
Mom wanted to go to the pool.  After all it was Memorial Day.

Mom doesn't really understand the game at all.  But when dad takes mom and me for a walk in the early evening, he rehashes the hands,  He talks about slams and directions like north-south and east-west, bidding, etc.  Mom nods knowingly, even though dad knows she doesn't get it.

Dad often comes in at first place.  He's a really, really good bridge player.  His mind works that way.  Mom's mind is too scattered for the game.  Her attention span is short and her patience even shorter.

Oh well, let them go and have their fun.  Mom is content being at home on her own for a few hours.  It gives her a little of her independence back and a chance to see friends if they are free..
