HELICOPTER OR VELCRO?

Quotes of the day: " A wise man adapts himself to circumstances as water shapes itself to the vessel that contain it." Chinese proverb

"Acceptance of what has happened is the first step to overcoming the consequences of any misfortune ."   William Jones

This is:  National Zoo Keeper week  ( July 21 through 27 )  Also, National Dog House Repairs,  Grilling,  Ice Cream,  Blueberry, and Hot Dog month

There are helicopter moms and Velcro dogs.  I am proud to announce that I am a Velcro dog.

I love mom and dad. I know they think I am a pain in the arf, arf, sometimes, but I'm just trying to protect them. I follow them all over the house just to make sure they are safe.

I follow my into the bathroom, and when it is shower time, I try to get in the stall, too.  Dad locks me out of the room.

When mom is walking around the house, I try to anticipate her destination. I know her routine so I am usually right.  Although she won't admit it.  I need to be near  mom in case she needs me.  Once, she fell on the porch. I laid next to her head so she could use my body as a pillow until someone came to help her up.

When it's my suppertime, I show her where my dry food is stored. I know she needs me for that. I walk so close to her that she can feel my fur tickle her legs.

When mom is alone in the house I am especially on guard. I hear a golf cart drive by and I bark and check the windows for intruders. I do the same when I hear a car drive by. When I see a person go by, I bark until they are out of sight to scare them away from the house.  Every now and then, mom's friend Jan comes to visit.  I am very excited for the company. Jan usually brings me treats.

Mom hasn't fallen a long time,so I must be doing something right to keep her out of trouble.

When mom sits on the sofa, I curl up behind her and wrapped my body around her. I know she likes that because she hugs and pets me.

When mom needs dad to come to her, she calls out " Don".  Just in case he didn't hear her, I bark until he comes to the room. I'm just trying to help. If he  doesn't come fast enough, I go and get him.( remember Lassie )

Sometimes I get scolded for doing these things, but lots of times I get hugs and pets and "good girl".
I am not going to stop looking after Mom.  She needs me to look after her like I need her to look after me. I think we make a pretty good team.

  1. Hello Miss Daisy. You do have an important job. Our mom and dad need our help too, they don't always realize how much. We are sure they find our "help" somewhat irritating at times. We bark at the mailman, UPS truck, people going by, especially if they have dogs with them, and sometimes, we just bark at leaves falling off of the trees. Digger always goes with whoever is dishing our dog food and checks to make sure they are filling the scoop full enough. I don't have to worry as Digger worries about food. I am in charge of making sure all intruders are "really" friends. They always have been, so far. Keep doing a good job Daisy. Digger and Decker
